Camp Squeah is continuing operations and summer camps, while remaining under an Evacuation Alert, which we expect to continue as long as the Brunswick Complex Fire burns “out of control.” There is still considerable distance between us and that fire, in addition to geographical barriers. We remain committed to the safety of our staff and campers, and we are confident in the present safety of our facilities and those who are on-site.

With the active alert, however, we are taking all recommended steps to be prepared to leave our site on short notice if necessary. This means adjusting some of our programming to ensure all members of our community can do so at all times. We’re thankful for the flexibility of everyone involved so far to these adjustments and look forward to enjoying our summer programs with campers over the next few weeks.

The following camps are anticipated:

  • Adventurers – Scheduled drop-off on Sunday August 9, 2026
  • MUD 3 – Scheduled drop-off on Sunday August 9, 2026
  • Outbackers – Scheduled drop-off on Sunday August 16, 2026

The following camps are on-going:

  • Voyageurs – Actively continuing, with pickup on Friday August 7, 2026
  • MUD 2 – Actively continuing, with pickup on Friday August 7, 2026
  • JLT – Actively continuing, with pickup on Friday August 14, 2026
  • SLT – Actively continuing, with pickup on Friday August 21, 2026

Camp Squeah remains under an Evacuation Alert, though planned summer camps are continuing. This includes the arrival of new campers as scheduled. At this time we do not feel an imminent threat to our facilities or the safety of those on site.

We are in contact with the Fraser Valley Regional District, which issued the alert, and BC Wildfire Service officials. Both of these authorities are aware of these planned camps and our evacuation plans. Camp Squeah will be attentive to all updates and cooperate with these authorities to ensure the safety of our community and neighbours.

Evacuation Plans for Camp Squeah include arrangement for buses and drivers available on site, along with a pre-arranged safe gathering location in Hope BC. In the event of an Evacuation Order being given, all staff and campers will be transported to the gathering location in a quick and orderly fashion. From there parents and guardians would be contacted for camper pickup.

The following camps are currently going ahead:

  • Voyageurs – Scheduled for 4pm drop off on Monday August 3, 2026
  • JLT – Scheduled for 3pm drop off on Monday August 3, 2026
  • SLT – Already running and continuing with modified programming
  • MUD – Already running and continuing with modified programming

At 9am August 1, The Fraser Valley Regional District put Camp Squeah and the area around us on an Evacuation Alert due to the ongoing wildfires north of our location.

At this time we do not feel an imminent threat to our facilities or the safety of those already here. We will be preparing them all to leave on short notice, however, if an Evacuation Order becomes necessary. All hiking and off site activities in the affected areas will also be suspended.

The first recommendation provided when under an Evacuation Alert is that those not already in the affected area should avoid the area. With that in mind, the start of the following camps will be delayed as we execute the conditions of our existing Evacuation Plan.

  • Voyageurs – *NEW* scheduled for 4pm drop off on Monday August 3, 2026
  • JLT – *NEW* scheduled for 3pm drop off on Monday August 3, 2026
  • SLT – Already running and continuing with modified programming
  • MUD – Already running and continuing with modified programming

The weather conditions over the next 24-48 hours will be important as we determine the resumption of camp.

We will do our best to keep you informed and notified. Camps delayed more than 48 hours may be cancelled.We look forward to welcoming campers to Camp Squeah, our place of refuge, as soon as we can safely do so.
