Family Camp 2021 – What to Expect

Program Overview

  • Our 2021 Summer Family Camps are designed to provide an opportunity for children and their families to experience overnight summer camp. These camps will look different than before, but are adapted from our Family Camps and Day Camps from the past.
  • Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner provided in the dining hall Mon-Thu
    • Indoor and outdoor seating will be provided to minimize large indoor gathering
    • Contact registrar@squeah.com with any dietary restrictions or concerns
  • Accommodation options include
    • Emory Lodge
      Rooms will be assigned based on family size. All rooms include a queen bed and ensuite washroom containing a shower. Many also include one or two bunk beds. Linens and bedding are NOT included, unless prior arrangements are made. Please let us know if you require one of our more accessible rooms.
    • RV/Tenting
      Several RV pads are available, most with access to power and water. Please let us know if you will require these hookups. Shared washroom and shower are located in a nearby building.

 

Family Camp – Daily Program * Updated June 18, 2021

  • July 4-8, 2021 and July 18-22, 2021
  • Goal: creating opportunity for families to stay at Squeah, offering children an “at camp” experience while supported by their family
  • Check-in begins at 6pm on Sunday (no dinner provided), check-out 7pm on Thursday
  • * Families may participate together in a “household” of up to 12 people, consistent throughout the week
  • * All programming will be dependent on public health recommendations at the time
  • * Children’s programming provided for children 3 – 12
    • Families will decide how much of daily programming their children will join
    • Children will be assigned to the same group and staff team each day
    • * Programming will run from 9:30am – 12:00pm
    • Activities will be structured to limit close contacts as much as possible and will include a variety of traditional summer camp classics
    • A short age appropriate Bible lesson will also be provided each day
  • Adult and Family programming
    • Evening programming will focus around fireside opportunities and may include snacks, singing, spiritual enrichment, and story telling
    • Adults and families will have access to self-directed activities and play areas throughout the camp
    • Activity programming will be provided for adults, teens, and families during the day and early evening, and will include a variety of traditional summer camp classics, such as rock climbing, crafts, field games, swimming, and archery
    • An Adult Connect time will be scheduled each morning to hear from our family camp speaker and to facilitate conversations

 

Family Camp – Weekend Program

  • July 30 – August 2, 2021 (BC Day long weekend)
  • Goal: creating opportunity for parents and children to participate in camp together.
  • Check-in at 3pm on Friday, check-out 3pm on Monday
  • * Families may participate together in a “household” of up to 12 people, consistent throughout the week
  • Family style programming provided through the weekend, with traditional camp activities offered for parents, grandparents, and children to participate together throughout the day
    • Signup will be required for any instructor led activities, and space may be limited to one or two “households” depending on size
  • Evening programming will focus around fireside opportunities and may include snacks, singing, spiritual enrichment, and story telling
  • Childcare options may be available, depending on staff availability and current health guidance

 

COVID-19 Protocols

  • All family members must answer a health questionnaire prior to starting the camp experience. Should a camper display symptoms of COVID-19 prior to camp, he or she will not be permitted to join our group
  • Social distancing will be expected as much as possible
  • Campers are required to bring their own personal protective equipment (gloves, mask, hand sanitizer), and use this equipment when camp personnel deem appropriate
  • Large gatherings will be avoided, especially indoors
  • Group equipment will be wiped down regularly by staff members
  • Should a camper display COVID-19 symptoms during camp, they will need to be picked up immediately, and will be asked to no longer attend camp
  • Should an instructor display COVID-19 symptoms during camp, they will be removed from program and will enter quarantine. An assistant instructor will take over for the remainder of the programming
  • Public and shared modes of transportation will be avoided wherever possible
  • Directors will keep parents in the loop on what is happening during camp should any situation change

Packing List

  • You know best what you need for your family, but please check out our kids camp packing list to guide you in packing your children for Family Camp: Children and Youth Camp Packing List
  • NOTE: Linens and bedding are NOT included in Family Camp registration. Be sure to bring your own sheets, blankets or sleeping bags, and pillows etc.

 

Arrival

  • We recognize that traffic considerations can be difficult to predict, but please do not plan to arrive early as our staff will be preparing for your arrival. If you expect to be significantly delayed or late please let us know as soon as possible.
  • Please remain in your vehicle as you enter the Camp Squeah grounds. Follow any directional signage. Staff members will meet you AT YOUR VEHICLE and direct you towards the correct check-in area.
