Family Camp – What to Expect

Family Camp Overview

  • Our Summer Family Camp is designed to provide an opportunity for children and their families to experience overnight summer camp together.
  • Accommodation options include
    • Emory Lodge
      Rooms will be assigned based on family size. All rooms include a queen bed and ensuite washroom containing a shower. Many also include one or two bunk beds. Linens and bedding are NOT included, unless prior arrangements are made. Please let us know if you require one of our more accessible rooms.
    • RV/Tenting
      Several RV pads are available, most with access to power and water. Please let us know if you will require these hookups. Shared washroom and shower are located in a nearby building.
    • Cabins
      Rustic one room cabins are available, which include four bunks (sleeping for up to eight). Shared washroom and shower are located in a nearby building.

 

Programming

  • Goal: creating opportunity for families to stay at Squeah, offering an “at camp” experience together
  • Check-in begins at 4pm on Sunday, dinner at 5:30
  • Check-out 5pm on Thursday, no dinner provided
  • Daily Chapel time will include an adult session with a speaker and separate age-appropriate activities for children
  • Family style programming provided through the week, with traditional camp activities offered for parents, grandparents, and children to participate together throughout the day
    • Signup will be required for any instructor led activities, and space may be limited for these activities
  • Daily Programming and Activities
    • Evening programming will focus around fireside opportunities and may include snacks, singing, spiritual enrichment, and story telling
    • Adults and families will have access to self-directed activities and play areas throughout the camp

Illness Protocols

  • On arrival at camp, staff and campers will be screened for symptoms of illness
  • Should a camper display symptoms of illness prior to camp, he or she will not be permitted to join our group
  • Priority will be given to spend time outdoors
  • Shared equipment and frequently touched places will be wiped down regularly by staff members
  • Staff will check in with participants before, during, and after camp times every day to check in on their emotional and physical state
  • Should a camper display symptoms of illness during camp, they will need to be picked up immediately
  • Should any staff member display symptoms of illness during camp, they will be removed from program and will enter quarantine. An alternate staff member will take over for the remainder of the programming
  • Directors will keep parents in the loop on what is happening during camp should any situation change

 

Packing List

  • NOTE: Linens and bedding are NOT included in Family Camp registration. Be sure to bring your own sheets, blankets or sleeping bags, and pillows etc.

 

Arrival

  • We recognize that traffic considerations can be difficult to predict, but please do not plan to arrive early as our staff will be preparing for your arrival. If you expect to be significantly delayed or late please let us know as soon as possible.
  • Please follow any directional signage as you arrive. Staff members will be available to greet you and direct you towards the correct check-in area.
